As well as releasing a new beta of iOS 11, Apple also released a new beta of macOS, macOS High Sierra Beta 4. The macOS High Sierra Beta 4 update brings a range of new features to Apple’s Mac range of computers.
The new macOS High Sierra Beta 4 has been released to developers, it is not available as part of Apple’s public beta testing program as yet.
Key Features of macOS High Sierra
Apple’s macOS High Sierra introduces the Apple File System (APFS) from iOS to the Mac, which is designed to make common operations such as copying files and directories nearly instantaneous. APFS also brings strong encryption, space sharing, and improved file system fundamentals to the Mac. This is a significant upgrade from the previous HFS+ file system, which has been in use for decades.
Another major feature is the support for Virtual Reality (VR) and external graphics cards. This is a big step forward for developers and gamers who require high-performance graphics. With macOS High Sierra, Apple is making it easier to connect external GPUs to Macs, which can significantly boost the graphical performance of applications and games.
Enhanced Multimedia Capabilities
macOS High Sierra also includes updates to the Photos app, making it easier to organize and edit your photos. The new version of Photos includes more powerful editing tools and new ways to organize your library. For example, you can now filter your photos by keywords, favorites, and other criteria, making it easier to find the photos you’re looking for.
Safari, Apple’s web browser, has also received significant updates. One of the most notable new features is the ability to block auto-playing videos, which can be a major annoyance when browsing the web. Safari also includes intelligent tracking prevention, which uses machine learning to identify and block trackers that collect your browsing data.
The new macOS High Sierra Beta 4 also brings improvements to the Mail app, including a new split view for composing emails, and the ability to use Spotlight to search for specific emails. These updates make it easier to manage your email and find the information you need.
As yet there are no details on exactly when Apple will release their new macOS High Sierra update, all we know is that the software is coming some time this fall. As soon as we get some details on a release date, we will let you guys know.
