Despite of all the poor sales predictions and production cuts for the iPhone 5C, a new report mentions that Apple iPhone 5C is doing very well in India, one of the biggest smartphone markets in the world. It’s even more interesting to find out that the colorful iPhone 5C is outselling Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S4 in the country.
Before the launch, the colorful iPhone 5C was rumored to be an affordable handset and will target emerging markets like China and India. However, it turns out that’s not the case as iPhone 5C is just $100 less than the forward-thinking iPhone 5S. It seems the case is a little different in India as it seems that the handset is selling well in the country and currently outsells Galaxy S4, according to a report from Indian Express.
The news came from India Express who mentioned that several store owners are having troubles keeping up with the stock of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C due to lucrative deals offered by the carriers and retailers in the country. Apple introduced a buyback offer in India that allows users to trade in their old device for an iPhone 5C or iPhone 4S,
On the other hand, they’re not facing any troubles selling Samsung Galaxy S4. A manager at a Samsung’s store failed to share any sales figure, but mentioned that Galaxy S4 is not doing as good as last year’s Galaxy S3.
One of the executive at an Apple store in Delhi said,
“We usually keep around 100 units for seven days. But since the launch of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, we have to update stocks every two days. And sales increase three times over the weekend.”
Another electronics retailer said the same thing,
“This month we had 10 units of both Galaxy Note S4 and iPhone 5C. Surprisingly, I have no iPhone 5C or iPhone 5S left, while there are three Galaxy S4 smartphones still available. Now, you can judge on your own.”
The reports are anecdotal, and we need more information such as units in stock for each device, sales figures, etc. before making conclusions. But, if the reports are correct, we can put an end to all these theories that Apple iPhone 5C is not selling well. It’s debatable, but let’s see.
