The last thing we heard about the Amazon Kindle TV was that the device would launch in April, and now Amazon has sent out invites to a press event which will take place on the 2nd of April.
The invite to the event can be seen below, and as you can see the event will be something to do with Amazon’s ‘video business’, which is most likely the new Amazon Kindle TV.
We already know that the new Amazon Kindle TV will come with a game controller, as we previously saw a leaked photo of the device.
Amazon Kindle TV: What We Know So Far
It is not clear as yet whether the Amazon Kindle TV will be a set-top box, like the Apple TV, or a similar device to Google’s Chromecast. The speculation around its form factor has generated a lot of buzz, with some industry experts suggesting it could be a hybrid device offering both streaming and gaming capabilities. This would set it apart from other streaming devices currently on the market.
The Amazon Kindle TV will apparently stream Amazon’s own video content as well as content from competitors like Netflix and Hulu Plus.
