AT&T has just announced that it will start stocking the Amazon Kindle 3G from the 6th of March 2011, and AT&T will sell it for the same $189 price that Amazon does.
“We’re excited to work with AT&T to offer Kindle 3G to AT&T customers across the country,” said Mike McKenna, Vice President, Amazon Kindle. “Customers tell us they love Kindle 3G because of its light weight, battery life of up to one month, and advanced paper e-ink display that works in direct sunlight. Customers love being able to think of a book and be reading it in less than 60 seconds thanks to AT&T’s wireless network.”
The Amazon Kindle 3G features a 6 inch electronic paper display and it comes with 4GB of built in storage, there is also a WiFi only version but it looks like AT&T will only carry the 3G version.
Features and Benefits of the Amazon Kindle 3G
The Amazon Kindle 3G is designed to provide a seamless reading experience with its 6-inch electronic paper display. This display uses e-ink technology, which mimics the appearance of ink on paper, making it easy on the eyes and readable even in direct sunlight. This is a significant advantage over traditional LCD screens, which can cause eye strain over extended periods of reading.
One of the standout features of the Kindle 3G is its impressive battery life. With a single charge, the device can last up to one month, depending on usage. This makes it an ideal companion for long trips or for those who prefer to read without the constant need to recharge.
The Kindle 3G also comes with 4GB of built-in storage, which can hold thousands of books. This ample storage capacity ensures that users can carry an extensive library with them wherever they go. Additionally, the device supports multiple file formats, including PDF, MOBI, and TXT, providing flexibility in the types of content that can be read.
AT&T’s Role in Enhancing the Kindle 3G Experience
AT&T’s involvement in offering the Kindle 3G adds another layer of convenience for users. The 3G connectivity provided by AT&T allows users to download books, magazines, and newspapers from the Kindle Store without needing a WiFi connection. This means that users can access new content virtually anywhere, whether they are at home, in a café, or traveling.
The partnership between Amazon and AT&T is a strategic move that benefits both companies. For Amazon, it expands the reach of the Kindle 3G to a broader audience through AT&T’s extensive retail network. For AT&T, it provides an opportunity to offer a popular and innovative product to its customers, enhancing its portfolio of connected devices.
Moreover, the Kindle 3G’s integration with AT&T’s network ensures that users can enjoy fast and reliable downloads. This is particularly useful for avid readers who want to access new books quickly and efficiently. The ability to download a book in less than 60 seconds is a significant selling point and highlights the advantages of 3G connectivity over WiFi-only models.
The Amazon Kindle 3G’s arrival at AT&T stores marks an exciting development for both companies and consumers. With its advanced e-ink display, long battery life, and extensive storage capacity, the Kindle 3G offers a superior reading experience. AT&T’s 3G network further enhances this experience by providing fast and reliable access to new content. Whether you’re a casual reader or a bibliophile, the Kindle 3G is a compelling option that combines the best of Amazon’s technology with AT&T’s connectivity.
