Amazon’s New Kindle Development Kit

In a surprise announcement  Amazon has announced a new Kindle Development Kit which will allow app developers to create active content for the Kindle platform. Amazon is hoping to roll out the Beta version of the Kindle Development Kit in February, get in quick though as Amazon will be using a waiting list.

The Kindle Development Kit will include sample code, documentation, and a Kindle Simulator to helps apps developers build and test their content by simulating the 6-inch Kindle and 9.7-inch Kindle DX on Mac, PC, and Linux.

Asus To Release Ion 2 Eee PC Netbooks This Spring

It looks like Asus is going to be releasing a new range of Eee PC netbooks based around NVIDIA’s second ION platform, Ion 2, and we could end up seeing them in the stores as early as spring.

Asus have already confirmed that they are releasing an ION 2 based all in one PC or nettop, which will feature NVIDIA’s ION 2 based chipset and it looks like they will be bringing the platform to their Asus Eee PC netbook range.

Gigabyte GSmart Google Android Smartphone

Details have been released about Gigabyte’s first Google Android powered smartphone, although as yet it doesn’t have a name built in will be part of their GSmart series.

The Gigabyte GSmart Android smartphone will come with Google Android 1.6, and it will feature a 2.8 QVGA inch touchscreen display, an accelerometer, a trackball, GPS and a two megapixel camera with built in auto focus.

YouTube Offering Movie Rentals From Friday

We have heard before that YouTube intends to add a movie rental service to its website, and from this Friday YouTube is offering movie rentals to help promote some of the movies that will be shown at the Sundance Film Festival.

This is a great way for YouTube to test the service, and they are hoping to encourage movie studios to offer movies to rent through their website.

iPhone OS 4.0 Details Leaked

The BGR has received some details of the next version of Apple’s [AAPL] iPhone OS, version 4.0, and we could see it a lot sooner than we thought as Apple may unveil iPhone OS 4.0 at next weeks special event on the 27th of January.

Some of the features in iPhone OS 4.0 include multitouch gestures which are OS wide, this would make sense as the OS for the rumored Apple Tablet is expected to be similar to that of the iPhone.

Lockheed-Martin & IronKey have joined forces to create a new Virtual Privacy Machine IronKey that runs solely in RAM and can use any networks on the host computer. The VPM is remotely manageable and can be completely cleaned and shutdown from a central server. Sony PS3 Arc Motion Controller
