Apple has this week rolled out a new podcast iOS application its created to allow users to listen and subscribe to podcasts outside of their traditional iTunes app.
It was rumoured earlier this month that Apple was working on the new application, but official release dates were unknown at the time.

Apple has now quietly launched their podcast app onto the iTunes App Store, and is now available to download for free. However the first reviews posted for the app seem to be mixed at the time of writing this article, and I have yet to give the app a go myself. Apple explains a little more about their new Podcast iOS app:
“Podcasts app is the easiest way to discover, subscribe to and play your favorite podcasts on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Explore hundreds of thousands of free audio and video podcasts from the Podcasts Catalog, and play the most popular podcasts, organized for you by topic, with the all-new Top Stations feature.”
The new podcast app requires iOS 5.1 or later, and iTunes 10.6.3 to sync episodes.
