Amazon has added a new feature to its Amazon Alexa, you can now use Alexa to send text messages to your friends. This new feature is only available in the US at the moment but Amazon also plans to bring it to other countries in the future.
This new feature is only available to Android smartphones at the moment and you will need device that is running Android 5.0 or above. It looks like Apple’s iPhone is not supported at the moment, this is something that Amazon may add in the future.
In order to use this new text message feature with Alexa you will need to setup the Alexa Calling & Messaging feature in the Alexa app on your smartphone.

It will be interesting to see if Amazon adds in support for the iPhone in the future. We are also expecting Alexa to get some new voice options some time soon.
