BlackBerry recently launched their latest BlackBerry OS smartphone, the BlackBerry Passport. The handset is currently available only in black, but the company has plans to release a white version of the BlackBerry Passport soon.
According to the guys over at N4BB, the white BlackBerry Passport will go on sale in November, although this has yet to be confirmed by BlackBerry.
Design and Display
As a reminder, the Passport comes with a 4.5 inch square display that has a resolution of 1440 x 1440 pixels. This unique square display is designed to provide a better viewing experience for documents, spreadsheets, and web browsing, making it particularly appealing to business users. The device also comes with a three-row QWERTY keyboard that is touch-enabled, allowing users to perform gestures directly on the keyboard, such as scrolling and cursor control, which enhances productivity and ease of use.
Performance and Storage
The device features a quad-core 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 3GB of RAM, ensuring smooth performance and the ability to handle multiple applications simultaneously. There is also 32GB of internal storage, which should be sufficient for most users. However, for those who need more space, the Passport includes a microSD card slot for expansion, supporting cards up to 128GB. This makes it easy to store large files, such as videos, photos, and documents, without worrying about running out of space.
Camera and Operating System
The handset is equipped with a 2-megapixel 720p front-facing camera for video calls, which is adequate for clear and crisp video communication. On the back of the handset, there is a 13-megapixel camera that is capable of capturing high-quality photos and videos. The rear camera includes features such as optical image stabilization, which helps reduce blur in photos and videos, especially in low-light conditions.
The device comes with the latest version of BlackBerry’s mobile OS, BlackBerry OS 10.3. This operating system includes several new features and improvements, such as the BlackBerry Assistant, which is a voice-activated personal assistant that can help users manage their tasks, emails, and calendar events. Additionally, BlackBerry OS 10.3 supports Android apps, giving users access to a wider range of applications through the Amazon Appstore.
Additional Features and Business Appeal
The BlackBerry Passport also includes several features that make it particularly appealing to business users. For example, it has robust security features, including encryption and secure boot, which help protect sensitive data. The device also supports BlackBerry Balance, which allows users to separate their work and personal data, ensuring that corporate information remains secure while still providing a great user experience for personal use.
Moreover, the Passport’s large battery provides excellent battery life, allowing users to stay productive throughout the day without needing to recharge frequently. This is particularly important for business users who rely on their smartphones for communication and productivity while on the go.
The BlackBerry Passport is a powerful and versatile smartphone that is well-suited for business users. With its unique square display, touch-enabled keyboard, robust performance, and strong security features, it offers a compelling option for those who need a reliable and efficient device for both work and personal use. The upcoming release of the white version of the Passport will provide users with more color options, further enhancing its appeal.
