With just eight days remaining on its Kickstarter campaign the awesome new card game Villagers and the team at Sinister Fish Games have already raised over $250,000 thanks to nearly 8,000 backers. Designed by Haakon Gaarder The Villagers card game offers a unique experience in which you “draft and build a tableau of craftsfolk, in a race to earn the most gold”. Check out the promo teaser trailer below to learn more about what you can expect from Villagers which offers both solo and multiple player gameplay for 1-5 players.
“The villagers must work together to provide each other with raw materials, refined goods, food and shelter. Villagers is a card game in a small box that feels like a big box eurogame where you create and build your own economic engine. There are 55 different villager types, giving the game a lot of variety and replayability.”
Villagers has been blasting through its stretch goals which are divided into two camps: base game upgrades, and expansion pack content. Any expansion content we unlock during the campaign will be included in a free expansion pack for everyone who pledges to receive the game. The expansion pack will be sold separately at retail.
Having being able to play a quick demonstration at the recent GEUK 2018 games conference, villagers offers a great game for all ages, with plenty of different strategies and tactics available to earn gold. With pledges starting at just £22 I would highly recommend making a pledge via the official Kickstarter campaign to be one of the first to get your hands on this fantastic small box card game. Check out a play through below to learn more about its gameplay and mechanics.
“Designed and beautifully illustrated by Haakon Gaarder, Villagers is a game of card drafting and village building set somewhere very much like medieval Europe. As a village founder you’ll invite people from all walks of life to live and work in your expanding community. If you can recruit the right people to form lucrative production chains while balancing your food production and building capacity, your village will become the most prosperous and you’ll win the game!”
