Guitarists may be interested in a new guitar pickup which has been created by Samuel Tam, which takes the form of the USER HD Guitar Pickup which has been created to provide “HD guitar tone you have never heard” say it’s creator.
The USER HD Guitar Pickup has this week launched via Kickstarter to raise the required funds it needs to go into production. Check out the video below to learn more about its design and features.
It’s creator Tam explains a little more about its inspiration, construction and usage.
The USER pickup is a product in the HD era. As a user, with conclusion of the problems encountered in recording and stage, I developed this product. This is because I have not found what I need in the market for many years. One of the reasons is that most of the famous pickups in the market today are based on designs in 30 years ago. As a senior guitar player, I played different kinds of guitar.
Almost all brands of pickups have also been tried. I appreciate classic pickup sounds. They have good linkage to some classic songs. However, when playing modern-style music and goto record for production, the traditional pickups seem to have significant shortcomings. Signal of traditional passive pickup is too weak. The signal goes through the cable of guitar inside and the cable to amplifier.
The signal remains only low degree of reduction after reaching the amplifier. The signal is also delayed. Eventually, weak guitar signal relies greatly on amplification from amplifier. What we hear is more on the amplify itself in lieu of that of guitar. As well, musicians may find more difficult to play through due to delay of signal. In 80’s, active pickup came into being. It slightly improved some of the defects. The technology was a breakthrough then, but the sound was cold, thin, thirsty, and lack of detail. Not everyone can accept the sound.
Why does high-output pickup (for heavy metal sound) fail to output guitar sound in good details?I believe that the ideal pickup performance that every user is looking for is that with high sync rate, spatial and transparent sound, strong bass, clear, and very low noise, especially in high gain mode. optimize for record. Perhaps I am too idealized. So, for the time being, I was unable to found this kind of product.
Earlier in the history of the multi-effects, we believed that it could improve the delay and unnatural feeling of the guitar. But at present the effects are unable to solve the problem because we found that the problem was due to the pickup itself (Signal from the guitar by the internal cables as well as external cable and the distance to the speaker). It results in lost and delay of the signal (especially the bass), so the effect fails to reach the most complete signal. Using analog effect to harmonic sound is not true.
We re-think as to how to create good sounding, so we couple with High-End sensitive musical integrated circuit IC chip “Trustone” in HD technology as well as current technology to produce high-performance capacitors based on the six-magnet pole of the humbucker pickup. It definitely make a new generation of HD pickup. Our high-performance wafers receive vibrations on each string through the magnet on the pickup. It keeps the original sound and enhance the completeness of the sound. As well it is able to filer the noise after increasing the signal’s speed. We calculated the current bandwidth & slew rate is classic active pickup X 100 Times.
