The UK is pretty much behind the US and also Europe with their mobile broadband speeds, with 3G currently being the fastest available here in the UK.
Now it would appear that Everything Everywhere has just received approval from Ofcom to launch an LTE network here in the UK using its existing 2G spectrum.
This will apparently take place long before Ofcom holds their 4G auction when the other UK carriers will be able to launch their LTE services, and the other carriers have until the 17th of April to to register opposition to the plan with Ofcom.
Everything Everywhere is a joint venture between France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom, which have combined their UK Orange and T-Mobile operations.
