Tesla currently sells the Model S, the company is getting ready to launch their new Tesla Model X, neither of these vehicles are exactly cheap and both have a premium price tag.
Tesla is looking to change this with the Tesla Model E, this new electric sedan is looking to take on the likes of the BMW 3 series, the Mercedes C class and the Audi A4.
Tesla apparently intend to price the Tesla Mode E to compete with the equivalent vehicles from BMW, Mercedes and Audi, the car is expected to be around 20 percent smaller than the Model S, and it will use new components and it will not be based on the same all aluminum platform as the Model S.
Porritt said: “I expect there will be very little carry-over. We’ve got to be cost-effective. We can’t use aluminium for all the [small car’s] components.” This suggests that the Model E will use mostly steel in its make-up, although it will probably use bonding and rivets in its construction.
Tesla are expected to launch the Tesla Model E some time in 2016, as yet there are no details on the specification of this new EV and also no details on how much it will cost, as soon as we get more information we will let you guys know.
