Well that was quick, one UK retailer is now taking pre-orders on the new Sony Xperia E4 which was announced earlier today.
Although the company has not revealed how much the handset will retail for when it launches, you can now register your interest for the handset.
Specifications and Features
The Sony Xperia E4 comes with a 5 inch IPS display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. This resolution, while not Full HD, is sufficient for everyday tasks such as browsing the web, checking emails, and watching videos. The IPS technology ensures better color reproduction and wider viewing angles, making it a decent choice for multimedia consumption.
Processing power comes in the form of a quad-core 1.3GHz processor. While this may not be the fastest processor on the market, it is adequate for handling most applications and multitasking needs. The device also includes 1GB of RAM, which should be sufficient for running multiple apps simultaneously without significant lag. Additionally, the Xperia E4 offers 8GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via a microSD card slot, allowing users to store more photos, videos, and apps.
Battery Life and Camera Capabilities
The handset is equipped with a 2300 mAh battery that will apparently give you up to two days of usage. This is a significant advantage for users who are constantly on the go and do not have the time to charge their phones frequently. The battery life is further enhanced by Sony’s power-saving modes, which can extend usage time by limiting background processes and adjusting screen brightness.
In terms of photography, the Sony Xperia E4 comes with front and rear-facing cameras. On the front of the handset, there is a 2-megapixel camera, which is suitable for video calls and selfies. While 2 megapixels may not sound impressive, it is adequate for social media uploads and casual photography. On the back of the device, there is a 5-megapixel camera. This rear camera includes features such as autofocus, LED flash, and various shooting modes, allowing users to capture decent quality photos and videos.
The Xperia E4 also includes several software enhancements to improve the camera experience. For instance, it comes with Sony’s proprietary camera apps like AR effect, which adds fun augmented reality elements to your photos, and Timeshift burst, which captures multiple shots in quick succession so you can choose the best one.
Additional Features and Software
The Sony Xperia E4 runs on Android, providing access to a vast ecosystem of apps and services through the Google Play Store. Sony has also included some of its own software enhancements, such as the Walkman music player, which offers a rich audio experience with various sound enhancement options.
Connectivity options on the Xperia E4 include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and 3G. While it does not support 4G LTE, the available connectivity options should be sufficient for most users’ needs. The device also includes FM radio, which is a feature that is becoming increasingly rare in modern smartphones but is still appreciated by many users.
The design of the Xperia E4 is another aspect worth mentioning. It features a rounded, ergonomic design that fits comfortably in the hand. The textured back cover provides a good grip, reducing the chances of accidental drops. The device is available in black and white color options, catering to different aesthetic preferences.
