Earlier,  Sony announced that the company managed to sell almost 2.1 million units in the first two weeks of launch, making it the fastest selling console. Now, Sony has updated us with more numbers regarding the sales of the console to date.

During Sony’s presentation at the International Consumers Electronics Show 2014 in Las Vegas, Andrew House, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, said that the numbers rose to almost 4.2 million units as of December 28th.

The news was also posted on Sony Electronics USA Twitter, which said, “Andrew House on stage: “@Playstation 4 sold over 2.1 million units in just 2 weeks. Today we announce we’ve surpassed 4. million.” #CES2014”

This comes right after Microsoft announced that the Redmond giant sold over 3 million units in 2013, making the PlayStation 4 numbers to be one million higher than its rival, Xbox One.

This should come as a good news for the Japanese OEM as the numbers almost doubled in one month, making it a fairly popular console. Also, it would be interesting to see where these numbers go in 2014, considering a lot of popular gaming titles will make their way to the consoles.

Are you a proud owner of any of these? Share with us your reviews and which one do you think is better, PS4 or Xbox One?
