Last week we told you about the new Seagate Pulsar SSD, which measures just 7mm thick, now Seagate has released details of a new ultra thin hard drive, the Seagate Momentus Thin.
The Seagate Momentus Thin is a 2.5 inch hard drive designed for notebooks and netbook’s, and as the name suggests it i incredibly thin measuring just 7mm thick.
“The Momentus Thin drive promises to help computer makers differentiate on mobile-computing form factor and better compete in the fast-growing markets for thin laptop PCs and netbooks,” said Dave Mosley, executive vice president of Sales, Marketing and Product Line Management at Seagate. “Seagate is committed to helping its OEM and system integrator partners meet market demand for thinner laptop PCs and plans to expand storage capabilities for thin laptops as demand for these slimmer models continues to grow.”
The Seagate Momentus Thin 2.5 Inch Hard Drive will come in 160GB and 250GB capacities and both will come with 8MB of cache, a SATA 3Gbps interface and a 5400RPM spindle speed.
There are no details on pricing or availability as yet, but Seagate will be showing it of at the Consumer Electronics Show in January of next year along with the Seagate Pulsar SSD.
