We had previously heard that we would see three new smartphones from Samsung at Mobile World Congress next month, the Samsung Galaxy S7, the Galaxy S7 Edge, and the S7 Edge+.
Now, according to Evan Blass, Samsung will apparently only unveil the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge at MWC 2016 in February.
Evan posted a tweet saying that there would be just two new devices, you can see the tweet below.

What is not clear is whether Samsung intends to launch the Galaxy S7 Edge+ at a later date, or whether the handset has been canceled altogether. I guess we will have to wait until next month to find out.
Anticipated Features of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are expected to come with a range of impressive features. Rumors suggest that both devices will feature a high-resolution display, possibly a 5.1-inch screen for the S7 and a slightly larger 5.5-inch screen for the S7 Edge. The Edge variant is anticipated to have the signature curved edges that provide additional functionality and a sleek design.
Under the hood, the Galaxy S7 series is expected to be powered by either the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor or Samsung’s own Exynos 8890, depending on the region. This would ensure that the devices deliver top-notch performance, capable of handling intensive applications and multitasking with ease.
Camera improvements are also on the horizon, with speculation pointing towards a 12-megapixel rear camera with advanced low-light capabilities and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. The inclusion of features like optical image stabilization and rapid autofocus would make the S7 series a strong contender in mobile photography.
Software and Additional Features
On the software front, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are expected to run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, with Samsung’s TouchWiz interface layered on top. This combination would provide users with a smooth and intuitive user experience, along with access to the latest Android features and security updates.
Battery life is always a critical factor for smartphone users, and the S7 series is rumored to come with larger batteries compared to their predecessors. The Galaxy S7 might feature a 3,000mAh battery, while the S7 Edge could boast a 3,600mAh battery. Additionally, both devices are expected to support fast charging and wireless charging, making it convenient for users to keep their phones powered throughout the day.
Another exciting rumor is the potential return of the microSD card slot, which was absent in the Galaxy S6 series. This would allow users to expand their storage capacity, catering to those who need extra space for apps, photos, and videos.
Samsung’s new S7 smartphone range is rumored to go on sale on the 11th of March in the US. It is not clear as yet whether this rumored date is the worldwide launch date. If true, this would give Samsung a head start in the market, allowing them to capture consumer interest before other flagship devices are released later in the year.
In conclusion, while the absence of the Galaxy S7 Edge+ at MWC 2016 might be disappointing for some, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are shaping up to be impressive devices. With their anticipated features and improvements, they are likely to attract a lot of attention and set a high standard for smartphones in 2016.
