Sprint has released the Android Marshmallow update for two more of Samsung’s smartphones, the Galaxy Note Edge and the Galaxy S5 Sport.
The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport are now both receiving the Android Marshmallow update as an over the air update and it brings both devices up to Android 6.0.
Features of Android 6.0 Marshmallow
Android 6.0 Marshmallow introduces a host of new features and improvements over its predecessor, Android Lollipop. One of the most notable features is the Doze mode, which significantly improves battery life by putting the device into a deep sleep state when it is not in use. This can be particularly beneficial for users of the Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy S5 Sport, as it helps extend the battery life of these devices.
Another key feature is the enhanced app permissions system, which gives users more control over the permissions that apps request. Instead of granting all permissions at once during installation, users can now choose to grant or deny individual permissions as needed. This provides a higher level of security and privacy for users.
How to Check for the Update
You can check to see if the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is available for your Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy S5 Sport from the settings menu on your handset. To do this, go to Settings > About Device > Software Update > Check for Updates. If the update is available, you will be prompted to download and install it. Make sure your device is connected to Wi-Fi and has sufficient battery life before starting the update process.
The update should be available for the above devices as of now. If you receive the update, leave a comment and let us know.
Additional Improvements and Enhancements
In addition to the major features mentioned above, Android 6.0 Marshmallow also brings several other improvements and enhancements to the Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy S5 Sport. These include:
– Google Now on Tap: This feature provides contextual information and suggestions based on the content currently displayed on your screen. By holding down the home button, you can access relevant information without leaving the app you are using.
– Fingerprint Support: Although the Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy S5 Sport do not have fingerprint sensors, this feature is available for devices that do. It allows for more secure and convenient unlocking of the device and authentication for apps and services.
– App Standby: This feature helps conserve battery life by putting rarely used apps into a standby mode, preventing them from consuming resources in the background.
– Improved Volume Controls: Marshmallow offers more granular control over volume settings, allowing users to adjust the volume for different types of notifications and media separately.
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update brings a range of new features and improvements to the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy S5 Sport, enhancing the overall user experience. From improved battery life and security to new functionalities like Google Now on Tap, this update is a significant upgrade for these devices.
