Samsung has announced a new smart TV platform which will be powered by Tizen, and Samsung will be showing off some new Tizen TVs at CES 2015 next week.
The company will be using Tizen to power all of their 2015 smart TVs, and they have also announced that PlayStation Now will also be available on their smart TV range.
Revolutionizing Home Entertainment
“Building our Smart Platform around Tizen is a groundbreaking step towards a much more intelligent and integrated system,” said Won Jin Lee, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “Tizen not only enriches the entertainment experience for our customers today, but unlocks great potential for the future in home entertainment.”
Tizen is an open-source operating system based on Linux, which allows for greater flexibility and customization. This means that developers can create a wide range of applications and services that can be easily integrated into the Tizen ecosystem. For consumers, this translates to a more seamless and personalized user experience. The integration of Tizen into Samsung’s smart TVs is expected to bring a host of new features and improvements, such as faster performance, better multitasking capabilities, and a more intuitive user interface.
Enhanced Features and Connectivity
One of the key features of the new Tizen-powered smart TVs is their ability to connect and interact with other devices in the home. This includes not only other Samsung products, such as smartphones and tablets, but also a wide range of third-party devices. For example, users will be able to stream content from their mobile devices to their TV with ease, or use their TV as a hub to control other smart home devices, such as lights and thermostats.
In addition to enhanced connectivity, the new Tizen smart TVs will also come with a range of built-in apps and services. This includes popular streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, as well as Samsung’s own content offerings. The inclusion of PlayStation Now is particularly noteworthy, as it allows users to stream and play a wide range of PlayStation games directly on their TV, without the need for a separate console. This makes the Tizen smart TVs an attractive option for gamers, as well as for those who want a versatile and feature-rich entertainment system.
Another significant advantage of Tizen is its ability to receive regular updates and improvements. Because it is an open-source platform, developers can continually work on enhancing the system and adding new features. This means that Tizen-powered smart TVs will not only be state-of-the-art when they are released, but will also continue to improve over time.
