If you needed any proof that mobile games are becoming big business, Rovio Mobile is a perfect example of a successful developer of mobile applications, and the company who started out as a developer of one of the most popular games for the iPhone has just raised $42 Million in financing.
Rovio Mobile’s ‘Angry Birds’ game has been a huge hit worldwide with mobile gaming fans, first we saw it on the iPhone, then on Android devices, as well as mobile platform, and it is now available on both Mac’s and PCs.
Rovio will also be bringing Angry Birds to various games consoles, which include the Xbox, and the company has just received an investment of $42 million from venture capital firm Accel Partners.
Accel Partners have already invested in some of the world’s most popular companies like Facebook and Groupon and now it looks like they are getting into the mobile gaming market as well.
Rovio Mobile has said that it plans to use the investment to expand internationally and bring Angry Birds, as well as other games they have in development to other platforms beyond smartphones and mobile devices.
