RIZE ferrofluid sculpture
The RIZE is a handmade art display that I created to showcase the amazing properties of ferrofluid, a strange black substance that was originally created by NASA as a prototype rocket fuel. It’s unique because it is reactive to magnetic forces so it could be drawn into the rocket engines in zero gravity using magnets. I sought to utilize these unique properties when designing the RIZE. The RIZE is activated when you place the sculpture onto its magnetic base.
The RIZE captivates childlike curiosity and amazement when people view it, and it makes for the ultimate distraction on your desk or centerpiece in your office. Even after interacting with these displays for years they still give me inspiration when I see them in action.
