US residents looking for a last minute practical present might be interested to know that the awesome Raspberry Pi mini PC is now available to purchase from RadioShack stares across the US.
The Raspberry Pi mini PC is available as a starter kit thanks to the Maker Shed and includes a Pi Model B, power supply, SD card with NOOBS preloaded, HDMI cable, a case, prototyping components and a print and PDF download of Getting Started with Raspberry Pi.
To-re-cap the Raspberry Pi mini PC is a credit-card sized computer that plugs into your TV and a keyboard, measures 85.60mm x 56mm x 21mm. Its equipped with a Broadcom BCM2835 700MHz ARM1176JZFS processor with FPU and Videocore 4 GPU supported by 512MB of RAM.
The GPU provides Open GL ES 2.0, hardware-accelerated OpenVG, and 1080p30 H.264 high-profile decode, GPU is capable of 1Gpixel/s, 1.5Gtexel/s or 24GFLOPs with texture filtering and DMA infrastructure and other features include a 10/100 BaseT Ethernet, HDMI, 2 x USB 2.0, RCA video, SD card socket and power socket. Eben Upton, co-founder of the Pi Foundation explained:
