If you enjoyed creating projects and devices using the awesome Raspberry Pi mini PC you might be interested in a new adapter which has been created and launched on the Kickstarter crowdfunding website, that will allow you to use microSD cards with your Raspberry Pi mini PC.
As any owner of a Raspberry Pi mini PC will know using the standard SD cards with the system makes them protrude out of the mini computer by around 2 cm. However the new Raspberry Pi Micro SD card adapter has been designed to stop this while allowing you to load your operating system of choice on to the smaller microSD card.
The Raspberry Pi Micro SD card adapter has been developed by the OpenElectrons team that created the Pi-Pan, a Pan-Tilt system to be used with the new Raspberry Pi camera. Enabling users to be able to pan and tilt the camera remotely when required. The OpenElectrons team explains a little more:
“A Micro-SD card adapter that fits almost within the Pi footprint would be convenient. So we decided to make one! Our alpha prototype was an hacked up standard adapter. Cut it in half, and attached a SD card over it, soldering it’s leads directly. The prototype adapter worked very well in our tests.”
The Raspberry Pi Micro SD card adapter project is currently over on the Kickstarter website looking to raise enough pledges to make the jump from concept to production. So if you think Raspberry Pi Micro SD adapter is something you could benefit from, visit the Kickstarter website now to make a pledge and help Raspberry Pi Micro SD Card Adapter become a reality.
