If you enjoy solving maze puzzles YouTuber “Engineerish” has created an awesome Raspberry Pi powered mains generator and printer that allows users to generate and print a maze puzzle on demand. Inspiration for the project was taken from his nephew who enjoyed solving mazes created by Engineerish. To simplify the process a Raspberry Pi and thermal printer were combined to create this awesome Raspberry Pi project.
“Don’t already have a device around your home that, at the press of a button, prints something cool? Build one! Mine prints randomly generated mazes but why stop there?” Check out the video below to learn more about the Pi project which has been Kindly published to YouTube with links for everything you need to be able to build the project yourself including the thermal printer which is available from Adafruit priced at $50.
“Thermal printers are also known as receipt printers, they’re what you get when you go to the ATM or grocery store. Now you can embed a little printer of your own into an enclosure. This printer is ideal for interfacing with a microcontroller, you simply need a 3.3V-5V TTL serial output from your microcontroller to print text, barcodes, bitmap graphics, even a QR code!”
The code is also available and uses a recursive backtracking algorithm, jump over to the official YouTube channel for more details.
