Anyone who enjoys building projects using the awesome Raspberry Pi mini PC might be interested in a project that has been published by DIY Tryin.
The project transforms a $35 Raspberry Pi into a home theater PC that is capable of streaming media from your home library of movies as well as providing access to stream Netflix and Amazon Instant Videos as well.
The new Raspberry Pi 2 mini PC offers 6x times the performance of previous versions and is equipped with a 900MHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 CPU supported by 1GB LPDDR2 SDRAM. While still providing complete compatibility with older Raspberry Pi hardware and maybe a great device to use for this project.
Also this week on the Raspberry Pi front a new version of the awesome Pi-Top Raspberry Pi laptop has been released providing a look at the new design that can be seen here. The creators of the Pi-Top Pi laptop explain :
“One of the most useful modifications from the old Pi-Top prototype to the new one is the addition of left and right mouse buttons,”-“Essentially, there is a PCB (Printed Circuit Board) fixed to the underside of the plastic case which has two tactile button switches mounted on it – pressing these buttons sends a left or right click command to the computer.
One design change we tried out with the new Pi-Top was designing the lid as a single piece and sliding the screen into it (the last Pi-Top used two pieces that snap together around the screen to form the lid). This meant that we had to print a large 3.5mm cavity than spanned all the way along the length of the lid.”
