Ricoh has this week unveiled their new Pentax XG-1 DSLR style camera which is equipped with a massive 52-times optical zoom lens capable of reproducing an equivalent 24 to 1,248-mm focal length range.
The Pentax XG-1 is fitted with a 16-megapixel 1/2.33-inch CMOS sensor and can capture 9 frames per second when required as well as sporting a permanently attached 4.3-223.6-mm F2.8-F5.6 lens.
Ricoh has also equipped the Pentax XG-1 with a 1 cm marco mode allowing you to get in really close for those nature shots and to show finer details when required. other features of the XG-1 include the ability to capture Full HD 1080p video at 30 fps and ISO range of just 100-3,200 which seems a little limiting.
“Coupling a high-performance, back-illuminated CMOS image sensor with high-grade smc PENTAX lens elements, the XG-1 captures dynamic, high-quality images, from ultra-wide-angle to super-telephoto ranges. With approximately 16.0 effective megapixels, and a large, easy-to-view 3.0-inch LCD monitor, the XG-1 is ideal for a variety of shooting situations including fast-action sports, pets and family portraits.”
The Pentax XG-1 measure 119 x 89 x 97.5 mm in size and weighs in at 567g and comes with 10 shooting modes, and a 3 inch high resolution LCD Screen and will be available to purchase for around $400 from August onwards.
