Last week Pebble announced that the Pebble Smartwatch would be getting support for iOS 7 notifications, and now Pebble has released a new version of their iOS app to support these features.
The new Pebble SmartWatch app brings full iOS 7 notifications to your Pebble, the app works with the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch running iOS 7.
Now get all your notifications. Pebble now supports the enhanced notification system in iOS 7 (for iPhone 4s devices and higher). The latest Pebble OS software update (v1.13.0) is required. Please refer to the help sections of the Pebble app and help.getpebble.com for information on how to manage notifications sent to your Pebble smartwatch from different iOS apps.
The video below shows how the new iOS 7 notifications works on the Pebble Smartwatch, the company is also working on a new Pebble SDK to bring a wide range of new apps to their smartwatch platform.
Enhanced Notification System
The enhanced notification system in iOS 7 is a significant upgrade from previous versions, offering more detailed and interactive notifications. With this update, Pebble users can receive notifications for calls, texts, emails, and other app alerts directly on their smartwatch. This means you no longer need to constantly check your phone for updates, as your Pebble will keep you informed in real-time. The notifications are customizable, allowing users to choose which alerts they want to receive on their smartwatch. This feature is particularly useful for those who are always on the go and need to stay connected without being tethered to their phone.
New Pebble SDK and App Development
In addition to the iOS 7 notification support, Pebble is also focusing on expanding its app ecosystem. The company is working on a new Pebble SDK (Software Development Kit) that will enable developers to create a wider range of apps for the smartwatch. This new SDK is expected to bring more functionality and versatility to the Pebble platform, making it more appealing to both developers and users. For example, fitness enthusiasts could benefit from more advanced health and fitness tracking apps, while business professionals might find productivity apps that help them manage their schedules and tasks more efficiently.
The potential for new apps is vast, and Pebble is encouraging developers to explore innovative ideas that can enhance the user experience. The company has also hinted at the possibility of integrating more third-party services, which could open up even more opportunities for app development. This focus on expanding the app ecosystem is a strategic move by Pebble to stay competitive in the rapidly growing smartwatch market.
