We told you back in March that AT&T would be getting the Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi. AT&T has just announced that the Palm Pre Plus will be available on their network from the 16th of May 2010.
The Palm Pre Plus will cost you $149.99 with AT&T (which is $100 more than Verizon) on a two-year contract after mail-in rebates, although you do get a free Touchstone charger with the Pre Plus on AT&T.
Features and Specifications
The Palm Pre Plus is a versatile smartphone that offers a range of features designed to enhance user experience. It comes with a 3.1-inch multi-touch screen with a resolution of 320×480 pixels, providing clear and vibrant visuals. The device is powered by a 600 MHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, ensuring smooth performance for everyday tasks.
One of the standout features of the Palm Pre Plus is its webOS operating system, which allows for efficient multitasking. Users can easily switch between applications using the card-based interface, making it simple to manage multiple tasks at once. The device also includes 16GB of internal storage, providing ample space for apps, photos, and other media.
The Palm Pre Plus is equipped with a 3-megapixel camera with LED flash, capable of capturing decent quality photos and videos. Additionally, the phone supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS, ensuring that users stay connected and can navigate with ease.
Comparing with Competitors
When comparing the Palm Pre Plus to other smartphones available at the time, it holds its own in several areas. For instance, its webOS operating system was considered innovative and user-friendly, especially for those who needed to manage multiple applications simultaneously. However, the device faced stiff competition from other smartphones like the iPhone 3GS and the Motorola Droid.
The iPhone 3GS, for example, offered a more extensive app ecosystem through the Apple App Store, which was a significant advantage for many users. Additionally, the iPhone’s sleek design and robust performance made it a popular choice. On the other hand, the Motorola Droid, running on Android, provided a more customizable user experience and access to Google’s suite of services, which appealed to a different segment of the market.
Despite these challenges, the Palm Pre Plus carved out a niche for itself, particularly among users who appreciated its unique features and the efficiency of the webOS platform.
There are no details as yet on when the Palm Pixi Plus will be available with AT&T. As soon as we get more information, we will let you guys know.
