Intel has this week introduced the highest capacity Optane Drive the company has created in the form of the 1.5 TB Optane SSD 905p. The new hardware offers read and write speeds up to 2.7 GBps and 2.2GBps (at 1000 MBs per GB) respectively together with IOPs performance offering 575,000 IOPS read and 550,000 IOPS write (4KB Random).
“Features larger capacities so users can handle larger data sets to better extract the value of Intel Optane technology with workloads that place heavy demands on the storage I/O subsystem. Provides an industry-leading 10 DWPD, making the SSD 905P the highest endurance client SSD in the market today.”
Unmatched Performance and Endurance
The Intel Optane SSD 905p is designed to meet the needs of professionals and enthusiasts who require top-tier performance and reliability. With its impressive read and write speeds, this SSD is ideal for applications that demand high throughput and low latency. Whether you’re working with large datasets, running complex simulations, or engaging in high-end gaming, the 905p ensures that your storage subsystem won’t be a bottleneck.
One of the standout features of the Optane SSD 905p is its endurance. The drive offers an industry-leading 10 Drive Writes Per Day (DWPD), which means it can handle writing 10 times its total capacity every day for five years. This level of endurance makes it suitable for write-intensive applications such as video editing, database management, and other enterprise-level tasks.
Advanced Technology and Applications
The Optane SSD 905p leverages Intel’s advanced 3D XPoint technology, which provides a significant performance boost over traditional NAND-based SSDs. This technology allows for faster data access and improved overall system responsiveness. Additionally, the drive’s high IOPS performance ensures that it can handle multiple simultaneous read and write operations without any degradation in speed.
For gamers, the Optane SSD 905p can drastically reduce load times and improve in-game performance. For content creators, the drive’s high capacity and speed make it perfect for handling large video files, high-resolution images, and complex project files. In enterprise environments, the 905p can be used to accelerate databases, virtual machines, and other critical applications.
Unfortunately, no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet, but as soon as information comes to light, we will keep you updated as always. But don’t forget just to keep in mind that these will not be cheap and the 960p one cost just under $1200.
