After making their Intel Optane 800P SSD storage available to enterprise users, Intel has this week announced that the new Intel Optane 800P solid state drive (SSD) is now available to consumers, available in storage capacities of 58GB and 118GB. The new storage hardware is already available to purchase online with the 58GB model priced at $129 making it a viable solution for a primary SSD. The larger 118 GB drive is also available to preorder priced at $199 and is expected to ship later this month, sometime during March 2018.
Intel explains that the new storage is capable of providing sustained sequential read speeds up to 1450 MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 640 MB/s. As well as supporting 4K random read speeds up to 250 thousand IOPS and 4K random write speeds up to 140 thousand IOPS. The Intel Optane 800p is an M.2 2280 solid state drives use an NVMe PCIe 3.0 x2 interface and each drive comes with a five year limited warranty offering peace of mind to owners.
