Makers, developers or hobbyists  in the market for a new CNC machine may be interested in a new range of computer-controlled cutters that are now available to preorder and have been created by UK-based Oonest, with a 10 percent pre-order discount available until the end of October 2017.

The WorkBee CNC cutter range is available in a variety of different sizes from 750 mm x 750 m up to 1.5 m x 1.5 m in size and can be supplied with everything you need including DeWalt router.

The WorkBee has been uniquely designed so it can be lead screw driven, belt driven, or a mixture of both. CNC Lead screws machines tend to be more accurate than belts, however screws are limited in size to a machine no bigger than 1000mm. So the WorkBee has been designed to provide either configuration, thus allowing a WorkBee to be available in sizes up to 1.5m x 1.5m.

The WorkBee is a culmination of all our experience from supplying CNC Machines. It has been designed from the ground up to incorporate as much of the feedback and suggestions we have received from the community over the past few years.

A WorkBee CNC gives makers the power to make functional parts from foams, woods, plastics and even aluminium to 0.2mm accuracy or better. Engineers, Manufacturers, Woodworkers and Hobbyists will all find the WorkBee to be an essential addition to their workshop.

The WorkBee makes full use of the V-Slot Extrusion system. On the X and Y Axis C-Beam extrusions are used. Not only is using the C-Beam beneficial to strength, but it also allows the drive systems to be concealed from debris. On a screw driven WorkBee CNC Kit, the screws are inside the ‘C’ channel, therefore shielded from the cutting area. With a belt setup, the Y-Axis belt are also inside the ‘C’ channel shielded from debris, the X-Axis belt isn’t shielded, but as it is above cut area this isn’t of concern.

The WorkBee CNC Machine uses a total of 48 x Xtreme Solid V Wheels. The Xtreme wheels are manufactured from super hard polycarbonate, this reduces wheel compression, and keeps wear to a minimum. The plates are manufactured from 6mm aluminium, and have a protective anodised coating. The plates have been designed completely from scratch, and have been carefully thought about in terms of function, usability, and ease of assembly.
