OnePlus appears to have had a good year in 2017, the company generated smartphone sales of $1.4 billion in 2017. This is impressive for a company that released their first smartphone just four years ago, the OnePlus One.
In a recent interview with The Telegraph the company’s CEO Peter Lau revealed that sales of their smartphones in 2017 had doubled to $1.4 billion, and that this had generated ‘healthy profits’.
OnePlus has a proven strategy that works well, they release smartphones with flagship specifications that can compete with the top handsets but cost hundreds of dollars less than the top devices.
This is the first time the company has revealed its revenues and the company is expected to continue to grow in 2018 with new flagship models being released this year. Peter Lau said that “If a company isn’t healthy, consumers will think twice about buying a product from them,” he said. “We want to send a signal that we’re a healthy company.”. This is why the company has decided to reveal their smartphone sales for 2017.
It will be interesting to see how things go for the company in 2018, will they be able to double their smartphone sales again this year? The company is expected to release a new smartphone in June of this year.
