If you would like to run Android on your Nintendo Switch, Switchroot LineageOS 15.1 is now available and basically transforms your Switch handheld console into an Android 8.1 tablet enabling you to watch videos, run emulators, surf the web and more. But before you jump to download the operating system there are a few points to be noted.
Switchroot LineageOS 15.1 currently only supports older Nintendo Switch models, unfortunately Nintendo patched anything created after the middle of 2018 to stop the exploit but any games console created before that date is open to a little tinkering.
Another point to remember is that this is an unofficial port of LineageOS and some features will be a little temperamental or may not work completely as designed. For more details on the supported devices, installation and features you can expect to use when you load the Android operating system onto your Nintendo Switch jump over to the official XDA Developers Forum.
“LineageOS 15.1 for Nintendo Switch by switchroot. This is the first publicly available Android ROM for the Nintendo Switch. Based on the Nvidia Shield TV builds it brings a smooth and powerful Android experience to your Switch in both handheld and docked mode.”
