Motorola has launched their new Moto X smartphone in India, the handset is being sold exclusively through Flipkart and it retails for Rs. 31,999, which is around $524 at the current exchange rate.
The Moto X is available with a range of options, which include the black model, and also the bamboo and leather models of the handset.
Display and Performance
As a reminder, the Moto X is equipped with a 5.2 inch full high definition display that has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. This display offers vibrant colors and sharp images, making it ideal for watching videos, playing games, and browsing the web. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, which adds an extra layer of durability against scratches and minor impacts.
Processing comes in the form of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with a clock speed of 2.5GHz. This powerful processor ensures smooth performance and quick response times, whether you’re multitasking between apps or playing graphics-intensive games. The Snapdragon 801 is known for its efficiency and speed, making it a popular choice for high-end smartphones.
Memory and Storage
Other specifications on the new Moto X include 2GB of RAM, which is sufficient for most users to run multiple applications simultaneously without experiencing significant lag. The device offers a choice of 16GB or 32GB of included storage. While the storage options may seem limited compared to some of the latest smartphones, they are adequate for storing a reasonable amount of apps, photos, and videos. Unfortunately, the Moto X does not include a microSD card slot for expandable storage, so users will need to manage their storage space wisely.
Camera Capabilities
The device also features front and rear facing cameras. On the front of the Moto X, we have a 2 megapixel camera for video chat. This front camera is suitable for video calls and selfies, though it may not offer the same level of detail as higher megapixel front cameras found on some other smartphones.
On the back of the handset, there is a 13 megapixel camera for photos and video. This rear camera is equipped with dual LED flash and can record 4K video at 30 frames per second. The camera app includes various features such as HDR, panorama, and slow-motion video, allowing users to capture high-quality images and videos in different settings.
Connectivity and Battery Life
The device also features 802.11ac WiFi, which provides faster internet speeds and better range compared to older WiFi standards. Additionally, the Moto X includes Bluetooth 4.0 LE, which is energy-efficient and supports a wide range of Bluetooth accessories such as headphones, speakers, and fitness trackers.
There is a 2300 mAh battery, which provides a decent amount of battery life for daily use. However, heavy users may find themselves needing to recharge the device before the end of the day. The Moto X supports fast charging, allowing users to quickly recharge the battery and get back to using their device.
Operating System and Additional Features
The Moto X runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box. While this version of Android is somewhat outdated, it still offers a smooth and user-friendly experience. Users can take advantage of features such as Google Now, which provides personalized information and updates based on the user’s preferences and habits.
Motorola has also included some of its own software enhancements, such as Moto Display and Moto Voice. Moto Display allows users to see notifications and time on the screen without fully waking up the device, saving battery life. Moto Voice enables hands-free control of the device using voice commands, making it easier to perform tasks without touching the phone.
The new Moto X offers a solid combination of performance, design, and features at a competitive price point. While it may not have the latest hardware or software, it remains a reliable and capable smartphone for users in India.
