Apple HomeKit users might be interested to know that the Xiaomi funded ClearGrass company is currently in the final stages of developing a new HomeKit temperature and humidity sensor equipped with an e-ink display. The new e-ink display allows users to benefit from a much clearer display when compared to regular LCD as in the comparison below.

The current ClearGrass temperature and humidity sensor utilises Bluetooth connectivity to connect to the Mi Home app, but it is thought that a new HomeKit version will be made available very soon sporting a reference of CGG1H. The new ClearGrass temperature and humidity sensor model will still utilise Bluetooth but will allegedly come with HomeKit compatibility out of the box.
The HomeKit News website extends a little more about the developments expected to roll out in the coming months. “There has been recent speculation that, with the eventual release of the new HomeKit compatible Mijia and Aqara hubs, both of which will come with Bluetooth connectivity, many of the existing Bluetooth devices within the Mi Home system will be exposed to HomeKit. That may not come to pass, as although many devices can automatically get access to HomeKit via a hub, without being HomeKit compatible themselves, they still have to be certified by Apple, so it’s more likely that newer devices will start to appear, like the ClearGrass product.”

As soon as more details are announced about availability and pricing for the HomeKit temperature and humidity sensor, we will keep you up to speed as always.
