Sony has today released a new official HD trailer for its upcoming driving movie aptly named, Baby Driver which will be premiering on theatre screens worldwide from June 28th, 2017 onwards.
The movie revolves around a talented, young getaway driver played by Ansel Elgort who relies on his music playlist to be the best in the game. Check out the trailer below to learn more.
When he meets the girl of his dreams (Lily James), Baby sees a chance to ditch his criminal life and make a clean getaway. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss (Kevin Spacey), he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.
Star-Studded Cast
Baby Driver stars Ansel Elgort, Kevin Spacey, Lily James, Jon Bernthal, Eiza González with Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx. The ensemble cast brings together a mix of seasoned actors and rising stars, each contributing to the film’s dynamic and engaging storyline. Ansel Elgort, known for his roles in “The Fault in Our Stars” and “Divergent,” takes on the lead role of Baby, a character whose life is intricately tied to his music. Kevin Spacey, a two-time Academy Award winner, plays the menacing crime boss who manipulates Baby into a life of crime.
Lily James, who has gained fame through her roles in “Cinderella” and “Downton Abbey,” plays Debora, the love interest who inspires Baby to dream of a life beyond crime. Jon Hamm, known for his iconic role in “Mad Men,” and Jamie Foxx, an Academy Award-winning actor, add depth and intensity to the film with their performances as members of the criminal gang.
Unique Musical Integration
One of the most intriguing aspects of Baby Driver is its unique integration of music into the narrative. The film’s director, Edgar Wright, has crafted a story where the soundtrack is not just a background element but a central component of the plot. Baby, the protagonist, suffers from tinnitus and uses music to drown out the ringing in his ears. This reliance on music influences his driving style, making each car chase and getaway scene rhythmically synchronized to the beats of his playlist.
The film features an eclectic mix of songs, ranging from classic rock to modern hits, each carefully selected to enhance the storytelling. This innovative approach to blending music with action sequences sets Baby Driver apart from other heist films and adds a fresh, energetic vibe to the genre.
If you have already seen the first trailer released by Sony, you would have seen most of the action, but it’s definitely worth another watch to whet your appetite for its launch later this year. The trailer showcases high-octane car chases, intense shootouts, and glimpses of the film’s emotional core, promising a thrilling cinematic experience.
Critical Acclaim and Anticipation
Since its initial screenings, Baby Driver has garnered significant critical acclaim. Early reviews praise the film for its innovative use of music, sharp editing, and strong performances from the cast. Critics have highlighted Edgar Wright’s direction, noting his ability to blend humor, action, and drama seamlessly. The film’s unique concept and execution have generated considerable buzz, making it one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
Fans of Edgar Wright’s previous works, such as “Shaun of the Dead,” “Hot Fuzz,” and “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” are particularly excited to see his latest creation. Wright’s distinctive style, characterized by quick cuts, witty dialogue, and a keen sense of timing, is expected to shine in Baby Driver.
As the release date approaches, anticipation continues to build. Moviegoers are eager to see how the film’s innovative approach to storytelling and music will translate to the big screen. With its star-studded cast, unique concept, and positive early reviews, Baby Driver is poised to be a standout hit of the summer.
