AOC has this week unveiled new additions to its range of AGON gaming monitors, introducing its new AGON 3 Series. This series offers 27-inch curved QHD gaming displays with high-dynamic-range (HDR), 1440p resolution, 400 cd/m² brightness, and an 1800R curvature. These features are designed to provide gamers with an immersive and visually stunning experience.
Design and Ergonomics
The design of the new AGON 3 Series display offers a “3-sides-frameless” construction, making it an excellent solution for multiple monitor setups. This frameless design minimizes the bezel, allowing for a more seamless and expansive viewing experience when using multiple monitors. AOC has created a variety of stands to cater to different needs and requirements. The V-shape display stand is particularly noteworthy as it is designed to take up less desk space than an ordinary stand while still offering “full ergonomic adjustments with height and swivel”. This means users can adjust the monitor to their preferred viewing angle and height, reducing strain during long gaming sessions.
Performance and Features
The AGON 3 Series is not just about looks; it packs a punch in terms of performance as well. The G-Sync-powered AGON AG273QCG is expected to arrive throughout Europe during November 2018. G-Sync technology, developed by NVIDIA, synchronizes the monitor’s refresh rate with the GPU’s frame rate, eliminating screen tearing and minimizing stutter and input lag. This results in a smoother and more responsive gaming experience, which is crucial for competitive gaming.
Following closely, the FreeSync 2 supported AGON AG273QCX will start arriving during December 2018. FreeSync 2, developed by AMD, offers similar benefits to G-Sync, such as reducing screen tearing and stuttering. Additionally, FreeSync 2 includes support for HDR, which enhances the color and contrast of the display, making games look more vibrant and lifelike. This makes the AGON AG273QCX an excellent choice for gamers who want both high performance and stunning visuals.
The monitors also boast a 1440p resolution, which strikes a balance between Full HD and 4K. This resolution provides a sharp and detailed image without being as demanding on the GPU as 4K, making it a popular choice among gamers. The 400 cd/m² brightness ensures that the display is bright enough to be used in various lighting conditions, from dimly lit rooms to well-lit environments.
The 1800R curvature of the monitors is designed to match the natural curvature of the human eye, providing a more immersive viewing experience. This curvature helps to draw the viewer into the game, making it feel more engaging and realistic. It also reduces the amount of eye movement required to see the edges of the screen, which can help reduce eye strain during extended gaming sessions.
Unfortunately, no information on pricing has been released as yet by AOC. However, given the features and performance on offer, it is expected that these monitors will be competitively priced within the high-end gaming monitor market. As soon as information comes to light, we will keep you updated as always.
The new AGON 3 Series from AOC promises to deliver a top-tier gaming experience with its combination of high resolution, HDR support, and advanced synchronization technologies. Whether you are a competitive gamer looking for the edge in performance or a casual gamer wanting an immersive and visually stunning experience, the AGON 3 Series has something to offer.
