If you would like to explore the surface of Mars using your virtual reality headset, you may be interested to know that NASA has this week made available its new virtual reality space experience Mars 2030 which allows you to explore a 15 mile area of the Martian landscape.
Mars 2030 is now available priced at $15 and supports the HTC Vive, the Oculus Rift and the PC via Steam, and will soon be available on the PlayStation VR hardware and also as a non-VR experience on the PlayStation 4.

Built to be the most realistic Mars VR experience to date, Mars 2030 includes a range of features designed to blur the line between science, engineering and entertainment. Developed with NASA under the Space Act Agreement, the experience was created using actual data from the leading experts on Mars human mission planning to deliver the most authentic experience possible, users will take a virtual journey to the Red Planet that includes 15 square miles (40 square kilometers) of Martian landscape accurately mapped and modeled from real Mars orbital satellite data. Mars 2030 is available for download now for $14.99, alongside a complimentary version for educators and museum staff.
