A new technology called Nanoform has been designed to provide a new storage medium that resists fire, water, acid, scratches and time. Allowing you to store your most precious memories and data for ‘eternity’ say its creators Fahrenheit 2451.
The Nanoform disk is are created for permanent data storage using laser engraving and have already been stored in the ice-caps and will soon be sent to the moon. Watch the video below to learn more about this new storage medium.
“Paper and film fade with time. CDs, USB keys and external hard drives have a 30-year lifespan at best, when they are not scratched, corrupted, demagnetized or rendered obsolete by new systems before that. And the Cloud is out of your hands and of questionable security. Here is our solution : a tiny laser-engraved disk of sapphire, which will keep your data forever, through time and elements.
Fahrenheit 2451 Nanoforms are stunning sapphire disks embedding your most precious data and preserving them forever. Synthetic sapphire is the 2nd hardest material, just after diamond. Water, acid, light, cold, heat – we mean LAVA heat – will not deteriorate the information encapsulated inside. In a fire, this thin, elegant, transparent work of art will be the only object left unscathed.”
Nanoform is currently over on Kickstarter with pleased starting from just €13 to be able to store your images or data.
