Moto M went official in China two weeks ago carrying a XT1662 model number, but it seems the handset is set to make an appearance in some other markets as well.
Recently, the new Moto M with model number XT1664 made an appearance in the UAE with a number of changes compared to the version introduced in China.
Key Differences in the UAE Variant
This variant comes with stock Android on board, and the company says it will work with all U.S. carriers including Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint. This is a significant advantage for users in the U.S. who prefer the pure Android experience without any additional bloatware that often comes with customized versions of the operating system.
As for other changes, the handset comes with a Snapdragon 617 processor clocked at 1.5GHz instead of MediaTek Helio P15 SoC. The Snapdragon 617 is known for its efficient performance and better optimization with Android, which could result in a smoother user experience. The device also comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, along with another variant sporting 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage found on the XT1662, coupled with a microSD card slot for expandable storage. This flexibility in storage options allows users to choose a model that best fits their needs, whether they require more RAM for multitasking or additional storage for media and apps.
Enhanced Camera and Battery Features
Other features include a 16MP main camera for photos and videos, which is equipped with phase detection autofocus (PDAF) for quicker focusing and better image quality. The 8MP front-facing camera is ideal for selfies and video calls, providing clear and sharp images. The camera setup is designed to cater to photography enthusiasts who want to capture high-quality images on the go.
The device is powered by a 3,050 mAh battery, which should provide ample battery life for a full day of usage under normal conditions. Additionally, the Moto M supports fast charging, allowing users to quickly recharge their device and minimize downtime. This is particularly useful for users who are always on the move and need their phone to be ready at all times.
The Moto M runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow as its operating system out of the box. While this is not the latest version of Android, it still offers a robust set of features and security updates. Users can expect a clean and responsive interface, along with access to the Google Play Store and a wide range of apps.
There’s no word about the pricing of the handset, but it won’t be long before we get to know about the official pricing for various regions. Given the competitive specifications and features, the Moto M is expected to be priced reasonably to attract a wide range of consumers.
The Moto M’s introduction to the UAE market with stock Android and compatibility with U.S. carriers makes it an appealing option for users looking for a versatile and efficient smartphone. The changes in the processor, RAM, and storage options, along with the enhanced camera and battery features, make it a compelling choice in the mid-range smartphone segment. As we await the official pricing details, the Moto M stands out as a promising device that combines performance, flexibility, and user-friendly features.
