Apple recently released iOS 9.3 beta, and one of the standout new features included in this update is Night Shift Mode.
We previously heard that Night Shift Mode is designed to cut down on blue light on the iPhone and iPad. Blue light, which is emitted by screens, can apparently disturb your sleeping patterns. The idea behind Night Shift Mode is to enable this new feature during the evening to help reduce the impact of blue light on your sleep.
How Night Shift Mode Works
Night Shift Mode works by adjusting the colors of your display to the warmer end of the spectrum, making the screen easier on your eyes. This is particularly useful during the evening hours when exposure to blue light can interfere with your circadian rhythms. By reducing blue light exposure, Night Shift Mode aims to help you fall asleep more easily and improve the quality of your sleep.
It looks like Night Shift Mode can be turned on from the Control Center. This was spotted on Apple’s website in Canada by Reddit user Nickjosephson and can be seen in the photo above.
As we can see from the photo, you will be able to either choose to turn the mode on and off manually or set it to turn on until tomorrow. This flexibility allows users to customize their experience based on their individual needs and preferences.
Additional Features and Benefits
In addition to the manual toggle, Night Shift Mode can also be scheduled to turn on automatically at sunset and turn off at sunrise. This scheduling feature uses your device’s clock and geolocation to determine when it’s evening in your location, ensuring that Night Shift Mode activates at the optimal time.
Moreover, Night Shift Mode is not just about reducing blue light; it also aims to provide a more comfortable viewing experience in low-light conditions. This can be particularly beneficial for those who use their devices for reading or browsing before bed.
There are also studies that suggest reducing blue light exposure can have other health benefits, such as reducing eye strain and headaches. While more research is needed to fully understand these benefits, Night Shift Mode offers a simple and convenient way to potentially improve your overall well-being.
As yet, there are no details on when iOS 9.3 will be released. However, the introduction of Night Shift Mode has generated a lot of excitement among users who are eager to try out this new feature. As soon as we get more details, we will let you guys know.
In the meantime, if you’re interested in trying out Night Shift Mode, you can sign up for Apple’s Beta Software Program to get early access to iOS 9.3. This will allow you to experience Night Shift Mode and other new features before the official release.
