Microsoft is taking some time to brag about its Xbox 360 video game console. Microsoft says that since the game console launched in 2005, it has sold 67 million units. That is a huge number of consoles sold by anyone’s reckoning.
Microsoft says that the console has generated over $56 billion at retail since launch and has 47% of the current generation console market. Microsoft also noted that the popular Kinect accessory has sold 19 million units since its launch.
Microsoft also bragged that Xbox Live now has 40 million subscribers and those subscribers spend an average of 84 hours a month on the console. Microsoft is predicting the number of Xbox 360s sold will increase significantly once Windows 8 launches.
