After images were leaked last month and then teased a little more for the Lecia Mini M camera, Lecia has this week officially launched the new mysterious camera as the Leica X Vario.
The Leica X Vario compact camera is fitted with a 16.2-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and fitted with a fixed Vario Elmar 18-46mm zoom lens or 28-70mm equivalent in 35mm format.
The case of the Leica X Vario is constructed from aluminium and magnesium and is bound by a leather trim, Leica explains a little more:
“The Leica X Vario offers the unique combination of an unusually large sensor with a high performance autofocus zoom lens in a compact camera. Even with a maximum aperture of f/3.5, this combination allows the creative use of planes of sharpness to lend images incomparable plasticity and depth. The wide-angle to telephoto zoom range of the Leica X Vario offers great scope for creative composition, whether used for capturing indoor scenes, sweeping landscapes or intimate portraits.”
