On Monday we reported that the iPhone Dev Team had decided not to release the jailbreak for the iPhone 3GS until the next iPhone OS (3.1) update was released.
GeoHot ( the guy who discovered the hole) has decided he doesn’t want to wait for the iPhone Dev Team to release it and has decided to release it himself, check out what he has to day about it below.
“Normally I don’t make tools for the general public, and rather wait for the dev team to do it. But guys, whats up with waiting until 3.1? That isn’t how the game is played. We release, Apple fixes, we find new holes. It isn’t worth waiting because you might have the “last” hole in the iPhone. What last hole…this isn’t golf. I’ll find a new one next week.”
Apparently after performing the jailbreak on the iPhone 3GS it can then be unlocked using ultrasnow, this version will only work on Windows.
If you want to unlock your iPhone 3G you can use redsn0w.
