Last week Apple released a surprise iOS 11.1.1 software update and now we have some speed test videos of iOS 11.1.1 vs iOS 11.1. Apple is working on the iOS 11.2 software update which is expected this month, so the iOS 11.1.1 update was a surprise last week.
We get to see iOS 11.1.1 vs iOS 11.1 tested on a number of devices in the videos below, will the new OS be any faster? First up is the iPhone 5S running both versions of iOS.
As we can see from the video the iPhone 5S running the iOS 11.1.1 update does show a number of speed improvements in booting up and also in some apps. Next up is the two versions of iOS on the iPhone 6.
With the iPhone 6 there is also a speed improvement with iOS 11.1.1 booting up faster than iOS than iOS 11.1, it also appears slightly faster in the apps. Next up is the iPhone 6S.
It looks like the new iOS 11.11 software update is also faster on the iPhone 6S both in booting up and also within some of the apps. The final test is one Apple’s iPhone 7.
The iPhone 7 appears to be faster on the older iOS 11 on booting up, as we can see from the video the difference is minimal. The apps appear to be about the same speed in both versions of the OS. So it looks like Apple has managed to brings some speed improvements to older versions of their iPhone with the iOS 11.1.1 update. It will be interesting to see if further improvements arrive with iOS 11.2 which is expected later this month.
