If you are searching for a way to protect your precious data from possible fire damage, you may be interested in a new SATA 3.5″ fireproof SSD created by Innodisk in the form of the Fire Shield SSD, designed to withstand direct flames and temperatures up to 800°C.
The design of the Fire Shield SSD has taken inspiration from black boxes used to record flight data in aeroplanes and other vehicles to help facilitate accident investigation. The Fire Shield SSD consists of a triple layer of protection between the environment and the core components says Innodisk.
The layers within the solid state drive (SSD) include flame-resistant copper alloy, drive-protecting connector design, and heat-isolating lining. Using combination of more than 20 different heat resistant materials with low heat conducting properties the SSD is capable of shielding the critical NAND flash storage from heat damage.
“After many trials and a lengthy design process, the Fire Shield SSD has passed its baptism of fire. After having been bathed in direct flames at 800°C for more than 30 minutes, comparisons show 100% data accuracy before and after tests. The U.S. patent has already been granted USPTO.”
