Last week we heard about the new Hyundai Genesis, and one of the car’s features, the ability to automatically slow the car down when you were approaching a speed camera.
Now the company has released a video showing off some more of the automated features in their Hyundai Genesis, the video uses stunt drivers.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
These features in the new Hyundai Genesis are not designed to give you the full self-driving experience, like, say, the new Google self-driving cars would. Instead, the features are designed to aid your driving, rather than being a replacement for you being in control of the vehicle. It certainly looks interesting from the video.
Some of the new features in the Hyundai Genesis include Advanced Smart Cruise Control (ASCC). This is different from normal cruise control, as it takes into account vehicles in front of you and slows down to maintain a safe distance. This feature is particularly useful in heavy traffic conditions where constant speed adjustments are necessary.
The car also comes with a Lane Keeping Assist System. This system automatically keeps the vehicle in the correct lane by gently steering it back if it starts to drift. This is especially helpful on long highway drives where fatigue can cause unintentional lane departures.
Enhanced Safety Features
Another significant feature is the Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB). This system works by automatically applying the brakes if the sensors detect an imminent collision. The AEB system uses a combination of radar and camera technology to monitor the road ahead and can significantly reduce the severity of an accident or even prevent it altogether.
In addition to these, the Hyundai Genesis is equipped with Blind-Spot Detection (BSD) and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA). BSD helps you change lanes safely by alerting you to vehicles in your blind spots, while RCTA warns you of approaching traffic when you’re backing out of a parking space. These features add an extra layer of safety, making everyday driving less stressful and more secure.
The Genesis also includes a Driver Attention Alert (DAA) system. This feature monitors your driving patterns and can detect signs of drowsiness or inattentiveness. If the system senses that you are not paying attention or are too tired to drive, it will alert you to take a break. This can be a lifesaver on long trips where driver fatigue is a common issue.
Moreover, the Genesis offers a Head-Up Display (HUD) that projects important information such as speed, navigation directions, and safety warnings directly onto the windshield. This allows you to keep your eyes on the road while still receiving crucial information, thereby enhancing both convenience and safety.
The Hyundai Genesis is also designed with pedestrian safety in mind. The car features a Pedestrian Detection System that can identify pedestrians in your path and automatically apply the brakes if necessary. This is particularly useful in urban environments where pedestrian traffic is high.
The Hyundai Genesis is packed with advanced features designed to make driving safer and more convenient. While it doesn’t offer full self-driving capabilities, it provides a range of automated systems that assist the driver in various ways.
