The HTC One S went on sale on US mobile carrier T-Mobile back in April for $199 and now T-Mobile has dropped the price of the handset on their network to $149.99.
The $149.99 price is when you sign up to a new two-year agreement with T-Mobile, and the device comes with a 4.3 inch qHD display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. Processing is provided by a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor, ensuring smooth performance for everyday tasks and moderate gaming.
Key Features of the HTC One S
The HTC One S features Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which was a significant update at the time, bringing a more refined user interface and improved performance. The device also comes with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage, providing ample space for apps, photos, and music. However, it is worth noting that the HTC One S does not have a microSD card slot, so users are limited to the internal storage.
The handset is equipped with an 8-megapixel camera on the back, capable of capturing high-quality photos and 1080p video. The camera includes features such as autofocus, LED flash, and face detection, making it a versatile tool for photography enthusiasts. On the front, there is a VGA camera for video chat, which, while not high-resolution, is sufficient for basic video calling needs.
Design and Build Quality
The HTC One S is known for its sleek and stylish design. It features a unibody aluminum construction, which not only gives it a premium look but also makes it durable. The device is relatively slim, measuring just 7.8mm in thickness, and it weighs 119.5 grams, making it comfortable to hold and use with one hand.
The 4.3-inch display, while not as large as some of the newer smartphones, offers vibrant colors and good viewing angles, thanks to its Super AMOLED technology. The qHD resolution of 540 x 960 pixels provides a decent pixel density, ensuring that text and images appear sharp and clear.
In terms of connectivity, the HTC One S supports 4G HSPA+ networks, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. It also includes a micro-USB port for charging and data transfer, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack for audio.
