We previously heard that HTC’s new flagship Android smartphone, the HTC M7 would be headed to three US carriers, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint, but now it would appear that the M7 may also be headed to Verizon under a different name.
According to a recent report, the HTC M7 will be headed to Verizon as the Droid DNA+, of course this is just a rumor at the moment and has not been confirmed by either Verizon or HTC.
HTC recently sent out invite for a press event on the 19th of February, the week before Mobile World Congress kicks off, and we are expecting them to officially announce the M7 on that date.
Specifications and Features
What we have heard so far is that the HTC M7 will come with a 4.7 inch full HD display with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, Android Jelly Bean, probably 4.2, and a quad core 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. This high-resolution display is expected to offer vibrant colors and sharp images, making it ideal for media consumption and gaming.
Other rumored specifications on the HTC M7 include a 13 megapixel camera with new camera technology and an f/2.0 lens, plus a front facing 2 megapixel camera. The rear camera is anticipated to feature advanced imaging capabilities, possibly including enhanced low-light performance and faster autofocus, which would make it a strong contender in the smartphone photography arena. The front-facing camera, while modest in comparison, should be sufficient for video calls and selfies.
Additionally, the HTC M7 is expected to come with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which should provide ample space for apps, photos, and videos. There are also rumors of a microSD card slot for expandable storage, which would be a welcome feature for users who need more space.
Software and User Experience
On the software side, the HTC M7 is likely to run HTC’s Sense UI on top of Android Jelly Bean. HTC Sense is known for its user-friendly interface and additional features that enhance the overall Android experience. Some of the expected features include customizable home screens, a variety of widgets, and HTC’s BlinkFeed, which aggregates news and social media updates into a single, easy-to-read feed.
HTC has also been known to include robust audio enhancements in their devices, and the M7 is expected to continue this trend. With Beats Audio integration, users can anticipate superior sound quality for music and videos, making the M7 a great choice for audiophiles.
Battery life is always a concern with high-performance smartphones, and the HTC M7 is rumored to come with a 2,300mAh battery. While this may not be the largest battery on the market, HTC’s optimizations and power management features should help ensure that the device can last through a full day of typical use.
We should have more details on the device later this month, including official confirmation of its specifications and features. The HTC M7 is shaping up to be a strong contender in the flagship smartphone market, and it will be interesting to see how it stacks up against competitors like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the iPhone 5.
