We have been hearing about the HTC EVO Shift 4G, also known as the HTC Knight for some time now. We recently saw some photos from an accessory manufacturer, and now a new image has turned up which shows the handset’s slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
We still don’t really have any details on the specifications of the HTC Evo Shift 4G, but now it looks like it could possibly launch in January.
According to the guys over at Phandroid, the HTC EVO Shift 4G may launch on the 9th of January 2011 on Sprint, as they found out some details from an internal Sprint document.
Anticipated Features and Specifications
While official specifications have yet to be released, there is much speculation about what the HTC EVO Shift 4G might offer. Given HTC’s history of producing high-quality smartphones, we can expect the EVO Shift 4G to come with a robust set of features. The slide-out QWERTY keyboard is a significant highlight, catering to users who prefer physical keyboards over touchscreens for typing.
Rumors suggest that the device might feature a 3.7-inch display, which is slightly smaller than its predecessor, the HTC EVO 4G. This could make the device more compact and easier to handle. Additionally, it is expected to run on Android 2.2 Froyo, which was the latest version of Android at the time. The inclusion of HTC’s Sense UI would provide a smooth and user-friendly experience.
Potential Market Impact
The HTC EVO Shift 4G is anticipated to make a significant impact in the smartphone market, particularly among users who value physical keyboards. The combination of 4G connectivity and a physical keyboard could make it a popular choice for business professionals and heavy texters. Sprint’s 4G network promises faster internet speeds, which would enhance the overall user experience, especially for streaming and downloading content.
Moreover, the timing of the launch in January could be strategic, as it allows HTC to capture the post-holiday market when consumers are looking to spend gift cards and holiday money. The EVO Shift 4G could also appeal to those who are looking to upgrade from older models without breaking the bank.
As soon as we get more information, including specifications on the HTC EVO 4G, we will let you guys know. Stay tuned for updates on what could be one of the most exciting smartphone releases of early 2011.
