According to Google’s Eric Schmidt, the relationship between the two companies has improved. Google and Apple used to have a good relationship, although the two companies fell out over Google’s Android OS.
When the iPhone originally launch it had a number of Google services built in, Apple recently replaced Google Maps on the iPhone with their own mapping software.
He noted that Google Chief Business Officer Nikesh Arora, who joined him at the press briefing, was leading many of the discussions. The two companies are in “constant business discussions on a long list of issues,” Schmidt said.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Apple and Google, and whether the two companies can improve their relationship.
